A Stroudsburg man will spend up to a decade in prison for an overdose death last year, a Monroe County Court has ruled. Edwin Burgos, 39, was sentenced to 4 to 10 years plus 12 years probation, said the Monroe County District Attorney's Office on Tuesday. Woman Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle In Westchester
A woman is currently in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in Westchester. The incident happened on Sunday, May 12 just before noon, when a 75-year-old pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the area of 772 Palisade Ave. in Yonkers, which is near the Foodtown Express grocery store, according to Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio. School Bus Catches Fire In Sayreville
A school bus caught fire in Sayreville on Tuesday afternoon, May 14, authorities said. All seven passengers and the driver escaped safely, they said. Police and firefighters were at the scene of the fire reported at 3:55 p.m. on Louis Street, according to Lt. James Novak, a Sayreville police spokesman. Alternate arrangements were being made to bring the students home, Novak said. The cause of the fire had not been determined as of press time. Residents were urged to avoid the area.

A police officer shot and killed a dog while it and two others were attacking a woman in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, May 14, according to officials. The officer was off duty and in his personal car when he spotted the victim being bitten by three dogs on the 1500 block of South 58th Street, PPD said. : Civilians, Police Unite To Rescue Struck Teen Pinned Beneath Car
Civilians teamed up with police to rescue a teenage girl who was struck and pinned beneath a vehicle Tuesday in North Bergen's Racetrack neighborhood, witnesses said. The victim, believed to be 15, was struck near a bus stop at the corner of Palisade Plaza and Woodcliff Avenue outside James J. Braddock Park shortly before 4:30 p.m. May 14, they said. Citizens with floor jacks assisted township police in lifting the vehicle and getting her out. An ambulance took her to the trauma center at Hackensack University Medical Center.
