A hatchet-wielding 50-year-old man who forced an ex-girlfriend to have sex was sentenced to 25 years in New Jersey State Prison, authorities said. Julio Sigurani, Jr., of Deerfield, was sentenced on Monday, May 13, according to Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-Mcrae. Sigurani was convicted at a trial of sexual assault and kidnapping, Webb-McRae said. The charges stemmed from a sexual assault that occurred on Aug. 13, 2020, in Deerfield. A man wanted for a Fairfield County carjacking and an attempted carjacking has been captured by police. New Haven County resident Tyssan Woods, age 18, of Waterbury, was arrested on Tuesday, May 14, for the Thursday, March 28 incident on Westport Avenue. According to Lt. A man who is accused of slicing a woman's neck with a box cutter as she was walking down a street in Springfield on Sunday, May 12, has been arrested, police said. A 34-year-old tenant died of suicide in his East Rutherford apartment before dawn Wednesday, police reported. Police are investigating after some 15 vehicles were broken into in the parking area of a Connecticut hospital. The incident occurred in New Haven County around 1:20 p.m., Monday, May 13, at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford.
